Best Time of Year for Storm Door Installation in Minnesota
You can install a storm door just about any time the ground isn't frozen to your boots. Some times of year are better than others, though. Here's how the seasons play out in the Twin Cities.
Fall: the sweet spot
Fall is the most popular time, and for good reason. A storm door adds a layer between your entry door and the wind, so getting it up before the cold hits means you feel the difference all winter. Temperatures are comfortable for the work, and caulk and sealants cure well.
Spring: great for screens
Spring is the other busy season. Homeowners want fresh air and a screen door before bug season. If you want a door with a roll-up screen ready for summer, spring is a great time to get on the schedule.
Summer: easy scheduling
Summer works fine for installation, and it's often easier to find an open spot on the calendar. You'll be set up well ahead of fall.
Winter: doable, with limits
We can install in winter, but very cold days make caulk and sealants harder to work with. If your old storm door fails mid-winter, it's still worth replacing. We'll just pick a milder day.
We handle storm door installation in Hampton, Hastings, Cottage Grove, Woodbury, Eagan and across the south metro. Estimates are free.
