Custom Porch Screens for Odd-Size Openings in Minnesota Homes

Not every porch opening is a nice, standard rectangle. Older Twin Cities homes especially have angled gable ends, openings that have settled out of square, and sizes no store carries. That's where custom screens come in.

When a custom screen makes sense

  • Gable ends and angled openings at the top of a porch
  • Openings that aren't square anymore after years of settling
  • Oversized panels the big box stores don't stock
  • Replacing an old screen nobody makes anymore

Not every opening needs the same screen

A few common screen types, and where they tend to work:

  • Standard fiberglass is the everyday choice for most openings.
  • Pet-resistant screen is much tougher and makes sense low on the walls or near the door if you have a dog or cat.
  • Sun-blocking screen cuts down glare on a porch that takes the afternoon sun.

Get odd shapes measured in person

Angles and out-of-square corners are easy to get a little wrong with a tape measure, and a screen that's off by a quarter inch won't sit right. For anything that isn't a plain rectangle, it's worth having someone measure on site.
