How Much Does Storm Door Installation Cost?

The total cost of a storm door comes down to two things: the door you pick and what it takes to hang it right on your house. Here's what moves the price up or down, so you can budget with confidence.

The door itself

  • Style. Full-view, mid-view, and high-view doors are priced differently.
  • Screen type. Doors with a built-in roll-up screen usually cost more than ones with an interchangeable glass and screen panel.
  • Material and finish. Aluminum-clad, color options, and premium hardware add up.
  • Brand and line. Andersen and Larson both make good and better lines at different price points.

The installation

  • Door opening condition. Rotten brick mold or trim needs repair before the door goes on.
  • Out-of-square openings. Older homes often need extra shimming and adjustment.
  • Non-standard sizes. Some openings need a special-order door or extra trim work.
  • Removing an old storm door. Taking down and hauling away the old door is part of the job.
  • Extras. Keyed deadbolts, kick plates, and upgraded closers.

Why installation matters

A great door hung badly will drag, rattle, and let in drafts. A good install means the door seals tight, closes softly, latches every time, and lasts.
